Downtown North Bay

Downtown North Bay

Right in the heart of this vibrant waterfront city lies downtown North Bay. Just steps away from Lake Nipissing, you can find restaurants, local stores, and live entertainment. From modern big-city amenities to historical buildings chalk-full of culture and heritage, downtown North Bay has it all.

Meander the streets and enjoy the many delicacies that local restaurants and bakeries have to offer, shop local artisans and then dive into the arts and culture by strolling through galleries and the Capitol Centre, North Bay’s historic home for arts and entertainment since 1929. This iconic theatre has enjoyed strong community support for 90 years and is the overarching destination for the Betty Speers Theatre and the WKP Kennedy Gallery.

Street art is a big drawcard to the downtown area with the latest additions being on Oak Street West but make sure you to look all around because you will find them on buildings and alleyways that lead you to hidden gems.

The North Bay Museum is located in the historical Canadian Pacific Railway Station. They regularly put on displays and programming which showcase the rich history and the current celebration of North Bay. Through interactive exhibits and programming, and the display of historical artifacts, The North Bay Museum has something for everyone. You can check out more activities like the Dionne Quints Museum or the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence whilst discovering North Bay.

North Bay is a community that supports local! For that reason, you cannot miss out on the weekly farmer’s market. Located right by the North Bay Museum in the summer, two days a week on Wednesday’s and Saturdays.  Straight from the farm to your table, fill your fridge with organic goods and grabbing a craft or two to remember your time in the Bay.

Perfect for those hot summer days, come cool down at the Rotary Splash Pad or try the multi-use recreational courts featuring one full size basketball court and one half-size. And if you need a swim you are only a hop, skip and jump away from the waterfront.
